Tejo
Very popular game in Argentina and Uruguay, this game is similar to the game Bocce and or Pétanque in French. Unlike the latter, Tejo is played with 6 wooden discs for each of the two teams, and a smaller one called “bochín.” More here (in Spanish).
Mar del Plata
Mar del Plata is one of the major fishing ports and the biggest seaside beach resort in Argentina. With a population of 541,733, it is the 7th largest city in Argentina.
Cakes anyone?
Cakes selection from the Confiteria Boston [patisserie, cake shop]. There is none in Buenos Aires. This is a patisserie chain from Mar del Plata. Here’s their website: Confiteria Boston [in Spanish].

Casita de Azucar
I discovered this store in Mar del Plata. Never bumped into one in Buenos Aires, maybe there aren’t just any… don’t know. Among other things, they’re producing handmade chocolates and alfajores [biscuits filled with caramel kind of cookies].
Theme day: books
Bookstore / coffee place. The ideal location :=) I took this picture in Mar del Plata.

Mar del Plata
Mar del Plata is at about 400km [250 miles] south of Buenos Aires on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. I’ve never been there prior to this trip. My impressions: I did like it, it’s worth spending 2/3 days, I wouldn’t say the city is espectacular, the center is like Buenos Aires but by the ocean – what I really liked though where the inner barrios [neighborhoods] like the barrio Los Troncos, and to see the mixture of European-inspired architecture with the more modern large apartment buildings. If I ever have to go back to this part of the country, I’ll be more tempted to visit all the beach towns along the coast like Pinamar, Villa Gesell, etc. rather than going back to Mar del Plata. FYI: avoid Mar del Plata in the summer, unless you’re a crowd addict ;=)

Churros
BA daily is back after 4 days in Mar del Plata. Pictures to come later. While we were there, we enjoyed yummy things. Among those sweet things we enjoyed churros [fried-dough pastry originated in Spain]. Those are usually served with a thick hot chocolate. On the picture, there’s a mix of a simple churro, and one filled with dulce de leche and another filled with chocolate. This is a must to eat when visiting Argentina.
