Temperatures at still a bit warm here in Buenos Aires. Can’t wait for the weather to cool off a bit and finally welcome the winter, which by the way, I much prefer to summer in Buenos Aires. Photo taken on the Perito Moreno glacier.

** BA daily will return next week. It is a 4 day-week end starting 2nite for Easter celebrations. We are off to Cordoba and the Sierras, located in the center of the country, for the next couple of days. **

Feeling lonely

Calafate in Patagonia surprises for the first time visitor. Houses gather a bit everywhere and the city keeps expanding [tourism obliges], more houses and hotels are being built, but the infrastructure to get to those new construction is nonexistent and you often find yourself walking or driving in dusty dirt roads. Last time I was in Calafate I stayed at that hotel in the background of the picture, that lonely white building ahead of the bus. When night comes, and with the permanent strong wind that characterizes so well the city, a walk to the city center is not very fun. If you come to Calafate make sure your hotel is at walking distance from the main street.

Last picture I’ll show from our trip to Calafate. More pictures are available at the photos galleries:

We were facing the glacier standing from the footbridges, offering a spectacular sight of the Perito Moreno.

Onelli Lake

During the Todos Glaciers excursions, you go through the glaciers Spegazzini, Onelli and Upsala. Later you stop at the Onelli Bay, walking a few minutes through the woods to reach the Onelli Lake, fed by the icebergs from Onelli, Agazzis and Volado glaciers. It’s a beautiful and very relaxing landscape.

Perito Moreno

The Perito Moreno Glacier is a glacier located in the Los Glaciares National Park in the south west of Santa Cruz province, Argentina. It is one of the most important tourist attractions in the Argentine Patagonia.

Glaciers cruise

The best way to see the Upsala and Spegazzini Glaciers is to go on a cruise around the glaciers. You leave from Puerto Bandera and navigates on the Lago Argentino [Argentino Lake]. Then you embark on the brazo norte to reach brazo Upsala towards the Upsala glacier and later go down to the brazo Spegazzini to see the glacier of the same name.

Boarding zone

Calafate Airport – waiting to board our plane to go back to Buenos Aires. Those 4 days in Calafate were precious. This part of Patagonia is gorgeous! Perito Moreno glacier is a spectacular beauty of nature. Will definitely go back. I’ll be posting pictures over the week-end.
