Apart from the pinball machine, they seem to have what looks like a bar
Does it serve as a bar? That I don’t know, but it looks like it, don’t you think? How about a Martini while waiting your turn?

This is no secret for anyone as the new and last Harry Potter book already hit the bookstores yesterday night in Buenos Aires. This group of cheerful school girls were in the bookstore Cúspide of Recoleta to get it. Yesterday the book has been released in English in 93 countries. The Spanish readers will have to wait until next February, since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has not yet been translated. I guess I’ll have to line up and go get my copy as well… didn’t I tell you? I’m a fan myself ;–)

For my friend, M, in Las Cañitas. Here’s what looks like a very fancy hair salon. I found it cute, that I had to take a picture. Over the week-end, I’ll show you what stands on the left on the picture. So they have a pinball machine, and what else?

I’ve been quite busy lately, posting pictures from my archives when time allows me to :–) Like that one, that I took on the Avenue Las Heras. This particular spot is in the barrio of Recoleta. This is Avenida de Mayo going towards the Congreso, in the barrio Montserrat.

Isn’t it indeed the widest avenue in the world? Take a look and decide for yourself. This is not my picture. I wish it were, but no. This is in case you start to ask me where I was standing when I took it ;–)

Acabar is a restaurant located in Palermo. It’s a fun place to gather with a group of friends for diner and/or drinks. And while you’re having diner, you can just go grab one of the board games they have available. The fun part of this place are the games. Acabar has every board game you can think of. The food’s Ok, I would not recommend it for the food, but if you want to have a fun time with friends until 5 in the morning, head to Acabar and have a fun time playing games. It gets complicated when you have to guess the Pictionary in Spanish ;–)

I got the pleasant surprise this morning to read that Buenos Aires daily has been listed among the 10 best blogs porteños. Wicked!? (Buenos Aires) is behind this list. As they define themselves, Wicked Buenos Aires is an innovative magazine in terms of format, distribution and language, which deals with Buenos Aires and its various cultural scenarios. Foreigners and locals are introduced to interesting features and events that define the city and its people. I’ll copy you what they said about BA daily in Spanish:
Thanks to the staff of Wicked to pick up BA daily :–)
Big time tonight, more precisely at 6pm. The final of the Copa América will see Argentina vs. Brazil. That tournament is now held every 4 years. Tonight’s final will be the third one between Argentina and Brazil. In 1937, Argentina won the title, whereas in 2004, Brazil was the happy winner after the penalty kicks. Let’s see tonight if Argentina’s team can make another of its magic…

There it is! I’ve heard about this new street car for quite sometime now, and today at 12pm our time, the inauguration took place. Donated from the French company Alstom, it took 4 years of work and connects the neighborhoods of Retiro, Puerto Madero, Constitución and Barracas. Can’t wait to go check it out :–) Other pix here.

This café’s located on the street Junin, very close to the Avenida Cordoba. Happy week-end to all :–)

Another cell phone picture taken this time on the Avenida Cabildo, at the crossing street Juramento, in the barrio Belgrano.

Cell phone contribution today. This image has been taken with a cell phone, somewhere in the city.
Update: I just found out from my boyfriend, that the streets are Julian Alvarez y Corrientes Avenida, he knows better than I do, since he’s the one who took the picture ;–)

Imagine the surprise of the porteños yesterday, when it started snowing in Buenos Aires!? It has a been a surprise because the city did not have snow for the last 89 years! And temperatures are cold! As I write those lines, the thermal sensation is minus 4, brhhh for Buenos Aires, it’s cold :–) More pix to come a little later today on BAweekly.

Photo taken on the Avenida Olleros, at the crossing street of Migueletes, in the barrio Las Cañitas, on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

Not so long ago I read the following: “Being an apartment dweller shouldn’t keep you from having a garden. Many types of gardens can be created on balconies. With the addition of floral color, a balcony becomes an entertainment center just right for relaxing. Turf, small shrubs, and dwarf trees can be used to create a suburban landscape in miniature above the ground. Balconies even offer the opportunity for food production, with flowering fruit trees and container-grown herbs and vegetables.” It amazes me how people can stuffed that many things on their balcony. It almost looks like a little forest up there :–) I don’t mind though, I’m just impressed. And this is a very common sight on certain balconies of Buenos Aires.
