Daily Pictures of Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires

Ezeiza Airport

A peek inside the Ministro Pistarini International Airport, more commonly known as Ezeiza Airport because it is located in the city of Ezeiza in Greater Buenos Aires, about 35 km (40 minutes’ drive) from the city centre when there’s no traffic, if not, it takes you about an hour to get there.

Villa Gesell

Villa Gesell has been a popular tourist destination since the 1940s. In January 1952, the town was visited by Ernesto Che Guevara as he set out on his journey across Latin America immortalized in the movie “The Motorcycle Diaries”. Nowadays, this is a favored destination for Argentines teenagers in the summer.

A funny one

This is a typical restaurant for tourists located in Recoleta. It’s name Sahara Continent. The reviews I read for its gastronomy go from excellent to disastrous. I’ve never been myself, so I can’t judge. The place just looks funny to me ;=)

When people think of my city, they think of…

Tango of course! It is so predictable I guess for Buenos Aires, isn’t it? The one thing that comes to mind when thinking of Buenos Aires is tango, followed closely by Maradona ;=) This month’s theme day is the contribution of Tyson. Thank Tyson! :=)

Buses and the law

52.8% of the bus drivers do not respect the traffic law. The most common infringements are: not getting closer to the curb when passengers get on and off, not observing the spot where the bus stop is, allowing passengers to get off from the front door. I do not take the bus often, I should say almost never. But the few times I took it, together with the 3 infringements from above, I’ll add that the bus drivers DO DRIVE very fast!! Nonetheless if you’re visiting BA, it’s one of those things to experience ;=) along with a ride in a cab, hahaha.

Facade

I’m so happy to show pictures Tyson took while he was in Buenos Aires. He has tones of photos in his archives and they’re great. This beautiful facade is another one of his shots. Only he can tell us where he took this picture, as I have no idea at all. Beautiful shot!

This is bad

It is without reminding that some streets in Buenos Aires are just in complete bad condition. So today’s posting in a big “coup de gueule”, or should I say “outburst” in English to those pitiful streets conditions!

Palermo Shops

Bosques

So nice to spend time in the parks when it’s so warm in Buenos Aires. This is another shot of the Bosques de Palermo. Happy week-end to everyone!

Ateneo Grand Splendid

Buenos Aires bookstore ranked second in the list of the ten most important libraries of the world for its architectural splendor, according to the British newspaper The Guardian.

Another very, very nice shot from Dul. For those of you who did not check out his blog yet, go to: Chroniques de Buenos Aires.

at the end of the pier in the Costanera Norte.

Cabildo de Buenos Aires

Plaza de Mayo. The white building in the background is the Cabildo, that once used to be the government house during the colonial times. Today the building is used as a museum.

Loft in Palermo

I saw this building in the barrio of Palermo. Buildings in Palermo are very diverse, which makes the neighborhood very appealing.

Mother Theresa

Her statue is located in the Parque Lezama in the barrio San Telmo, between Defensa & Av. Leandro Alem. It’s a public green area with fountains and sculptures and where one of the biggest arts and crafts fairs take place on weekends.

Recoleta & the Basilica

Barrio Recoleta with the Basilica de Nuestra Senora Del Pilar in the background.

Old time Belgrano

Belgrano neighborhood, I believe this is O’Higgins street. Wishing everyone a wonderful 2008!

In the park

If I recall well, I took this picture not far from the Malba, in the barrio of Palermo.
