Daily Pictures of Buenos Aires

Mar del Plata

Mar del Plata is at about 400km [250 miles] south of Buenos Aires on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. I’ve never been there prior to this trip. My impressions: I did like it, it’s worth spending 2/3 days, I wouldn’t say the city is espectacular, the center is like Buenos Aires but by the ocean – what I really liked though where the inner barrios [neighborhoods] like the barrio Los Troncos, and to see the mixture of European-inspired architecture with the more modern large apartment buildings. If I ever have to go back to this part of the country, I’ll be more tempted to visit all the beach towns along the coast like Pinamar, Villa Gesell, etc. rather than going back to Mar del Plata. FYI: avoid Mar del Plata in the summer, unless you’re a crowd addict ;=)

  3. I had the best summers of my life in Mardel as I grew up. My grandma used to own a flat across from Playa Varese and we’d spend our days on the beach and see lovely sunsets from our window.
