Bob from St Louis DP took this great shot inside the stadium of La Boca, commonly called La Bombonera [literally chocolate box]. Club Atlético Boca Juniors is one of the most popular Argentine sports clubs, best known for its football team. Diego Maradona, Gabriel Batistuta, Juan Román Riquelme and Carlos Tevez used to be former Boca players.

Karine – once again, my thanks! I am so pleased the you enjoyed some of my pictures of your wonderful city.
Going to a Boca Juniors match was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done. The stadium was packed. The fanaticos were all at one end, swaying, jumping and singing hymns to their team for the whole 90 minutes. Nothing like this in the US, even Red Sox fans. Some people waved banners bearing the number 12 in team colors. The fans are so intense they consider themselves to be the 12th player on the field.

La sensacion que uno siente cuando va a un partido en la Bombonera es inexplicable. El dicho que dice “…la Bombonera late…” no es en vano. Yo no resido en Argentina pero cada vez que voy de visita intento ir a un partido de Boca. Si sos turista y venis a Buenos Aires, no te lo podes perder.
