BuddhaBA

July 25th, 2008 (13 hours ago)

BuddhaBA is a restaurant in the Chinese neighborhood. Even though it is listed under Chinese cuisine directory, it proposes some Japanese (tempura), a bit of Vietnamese dishes. It’s yummy, filling and the service’s great. Located at the corner of Olazabal and Arribeños streets.

Beautiful building

July 23rd, 2008

* To Bob, who wrote me back on July 18th, if you read this note, I wanted to let you know that your email address provided does not work, and I keep receiving failure notification whenever I email you *

Gorgeous edifice on the Avenida Rivadavia. Unfortunately I don’t have any info to share about this building. Anyone would know what this is?

Hairstylist

July 22nd, 2008

Les Parisiennes - the name of this hair salon’s interesting. From what I can tell this is a caballeros/niños stylist [men/children]. Would Les Parisiens had been a better fit for this place? ;=)

Looking up

July 21st, 2008

Inside one of the numerous supermarkets in the barrio chino this week-end. It’s amazingly crowded on the week-ends. It’s best to walk around the Chinese neighborhood on weekdays when it’s a lot more quiet.

Avenida Rivadavia

July 20th, 2008

Caballito [little horse] is another of those barrio of Buenos Aires. Its main avenue is Avenida Rivadavia, where I took this picture. It is one of the main commercial streets in the city. Caballito is often compared to the barrio Belgrano for that it lacks nothing and offers all possible services.

Tienda

July 17th, 2008

Tienda [store] in Puerto Iguazú - this one is the equivalent of convenience store. Puerto Iguazú is a frontier city in the province of Misiones, north of Argentina. It’s essentially a tourist town because of the so-known Iguazu falls, located only at 18km away from the city.

Jesus on a sofa

July 15th, 2008

Godoy Cruz is one of those streets in Palermo that I take to go to work. Since yesterday, someone put out this in-bad-shape-looking sofa with a picture of J. on it. How cheesy! ;=) Got the camera today to take this shot.

July 14th, 2008

There are lots of places like this one: where you can buy all kind of spices, herbs, condiments, powder sauces, dried vegetables, etc.. This one, which name I forgot, Casa Polti, is located in Belgrano, at the corner of Juramento and the street Ciudad de la Paz.

Rainy rainy

July 12th, 2008

This week and the last had had a rainy weather. Temperatures have been going up and down. Today we had such warm temperatures that I’ve seen people in T-shirts in the streets, even though we’re in the middle of the winter…. I took this shot while in a cab crossing the Avenida 9 de Julio.

Galeria on Cabildo and Olazabal. This gallery’s full of music stores, bookstores, a tattoo place and the Electronic Things store on the right (of the picture): a great place for new and used video games. Very cool gallery to visit.

La Paceña

July 9th, 2008

After searching for La Paceña, I discovered that this is a restaurant located in my neighborhood, Belgrano. They make empanadas, pizzas, and locro (very much Argentinian specialties).

Brasserie Petanque

July 6th, 2008

Typical French restaurant located in the heart of Palermo. I heard many good things about this place. When I went there, over a year ago, I was a bit disappointed. The food was good, but we had to wait a lot (!!) between dishes. I read reviews about the fast and perfect service, so I was surprised it was not the case when I went. In any case, it’s worth the visit for authentic French cuisine. It was also great to drink my favorite anise-flavored liqueur, le Pastis; one of the famous apéritif in France.
